Countries on the Mediterranean who dump garbage into the sea cause trauma and death to sea life. Plastic bags are particularly harmful because they look like jellyfish.

On the afternoon of July 5th, 2015, I found a dead Hawksbill Sea Turtle washed up on the beach in Herzliya, not far from Apollonia.  The Hawksbill Sea Turtle is on the critically endangered list. Marine life, like this sea turtle, mistake plastic bags for jellyfish, eat the plastic bag and die.

I felt guilty taking pictures of the dead turtle. Something feels wrong about exploiting the turtle’s trauma with a camera.
